Terms of Service
The agreements that keep Sober Sisters a safe, supportive space for everyone.
1. Acceptance of these terms
By creating an account or using Sober Sisters, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. These terms apply to all members.
2. Eligibility
Sober Sisters is a recovery community for women. You must be at least 18 years old to use the app. By using Sober Sisters, you confirm you meet this age requirement and that you are seeking support for your own recovery journey.
3. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. You may not share your account with others or create an account on someone else's behalf.
4. Your content & license
Anything you post — forum posts, comments, messages, journal entries, and stories — remains your content. You grant Sober Sisters a license to host, display, and operate on that content within the app for the purpose of providing the service. Anonymous stories you submit for print publishing are governed separately by the opt-in consent shown at the time of submission.
5. Community rules & acceptable use
You agree to follow our Community Guidelines. You will not post content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, threatening, sexually explicit, or that promotes substance use, self-harm, or violence. You will not solicit, spam, impersonate others, or share another member's private information. We may remove content that violates these rules.
6. Reporting & blocking
Every post and comment can be reported to our team for review. You can also block any member from their posts, the member directory, or a conversation — blocked members' content is hidden from you and they cannot message you. These tools help keep the community safe.
7. Moderation & termination
We may suspend or remove accounts and content that violate these terms, with or without notice. Serious or repeated violations may result in permanent removal from the community. Admins can review reported content and remove posts or comments that break the rules.
8. Deleting your account
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from your Profile settings. Deletion removes your profile, posts, comments, messages, journal entries, stories, and other records tied to you. This action cannot be undone.
9. Privacy
Our Privacy Notice explains what we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it. We do not sell your data or track you across other apps and websites. See the Privacy page for full details.
10. Not medical or professional advice
Sober Sisters is a peer-support community. Content shared here is lived experience and encouragement, not medical, psychological, legal, or professional advice. Always consult a qualified professional for treatment decisions. If you are in crisis, contact emergency services or a crisis line immediately.
11. Limitation of liability
Sober Sisters is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the app or from content posted by other members. You use the community at your own risk.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, the updated terms take effect when posted in the app. Continued use of Sober Sisters after changes means you accept the revised terms.
